General Robert E. Lee, CSA. Commander, Army of Northern Virginia. Lee established his headquarters in a stone house on the Cashtown Road just south of the Doubleday Inn. Also of note, in October 1990 Bob Hope rented the entire Doubleday Inn for the 100th anniversary of Dwight D. Eisenhower’s birth. Bob Hope himself slept in the Robert E. Lee Room during his stay. |
